Brandon Wildlife Association’s
Mentored Youth Turkey Hunt
BWA is now accepting applications for our annual mentored turkey hunt for youth.
Applicants must be:
- Brandon Wildlife Association Members
- 12-17 years of age
- Able to obtain a youth turkey license (have hunters safety)
- Willing to write a minimum one-page essay on why you should be selected to attend the youth turkey hunt
- Able to attend an evening turkey hunting seminar at the B.W.A range – tentatively scheduled for the week of April 6th to 10th, 2020
- Able to shoot a shotgun capable of harvesting a turkey
- Willing to rise very early and enjoy a safe and exciting one on one, guided turkey hunt with an experienced turkey hunt mentor
If you meet these requirements and wish to apply for the BWA Mentored Turkey Hunt Program please submit your minimum one page essay (pictures accepted) detailing your past hunting experience and why you should be chosen as one of this years youth turkey hunters.
Applications can be emailed to Scott Holman, sholman@wcgwave.ca, or dropped off in person at 661 24th Street, Brandon, Manitoba.
Deadline for submissions is Friday March 20th, 2020.
Essays will be ranked based on the merit of the application. ALL applicants are invited to attend the evening turkey hunting seminar at the BWA range. At the seminar they will meet the mentors, learn the basics of turkey hunting, and pattern their shotguns.
The top two ranked applicants will be notified that they are invited to participate in the youth hunt on Saturday, April 18th and Sunday, April 19th.
Depending on the number of turkeys in our hunt area, additional applicants may be invited to hunt the following weekend.
